Swollen, stiff, fairly painful index finger - Arthritis - MedHelp
I have had this for over a week, and it seems to be getting worse. I am 33 and in very good health. The 1st knuckle on my index finger is pretty swollen, stiff and ...

I am done messin around!! I am on antibiotic right now and my tongue is on FIRE!!!  I can hardly eat anything because everything tastes funny and burns my tongue like acid. Drinking tannin-rich tea, on the other hand, may help reduce iron-absorption. I would learn to recognize it as such and find ways to cope, my stress would find a new fun thing to do to me. Out of the blue, 48 hours ago, I noticed the knuckle in the middle of my left (dominant) index finger hurt when I tried to bend it. I drank grapefruit juice with apple cider vinegar in it and took 3 capsules of turmeric.

I have to eat!!!  If I wasn't so mad I'd sit down and cry, but, I know crying doesn't get you anywhere so I'll stay a little mad and hopefully get something done about this once and for all!!!  My hubby is a good guy, thanks for saying that, I am going to show him your note cuz, he thinks I only complain about him!! LOL  I will be making an appt Monday with either an Endo or Rheumy or both. I still have no idea what caused it but it went away a little slower than it arrived. Well they have, but I can no longer afford to get proper attention for my problem, long story, no need to bore you or others with this. I too have such "blisters" and also now get them on my wrists and thumb. I have had this for over a week, and it seems to be getting worse.

Because large amounts of vitamin C enhance iron absorption and cast iron cookware leaches iron into the intestinal tract, vitamin C supplements and cast iron pots and pans should also be avoided. I learn as much about it as possible on my own first. Pain and swelling in a single joint isn't always typical of RA, which is autoimmune, but very typical of OA, which is caused by wear-and-tear or injury. I had one of these attacks last winter in my feet -- first one, then the other, with a month's rest in between. If there are some people like us there must be something that triggers it or a symptom for another thing. What to do now that I have the symptoms? Will try ice and research excessive iron and how to counter it. I have been calm and taken everything in stride, but, finding this lump may be the last straw, I can feel the hysteria building up inside of me and don't know how long I can keep it together (for my family) or when it's just gonna blow big time!!  Thanks for listening and I will keep you guys posted. I truly hope you will learn that it is a cyst or a calcium deposit or some such thing. Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid?? I have been diagnosed with Osteo in my knee. Just diagnosed with gastritis and Barrett esophagus, have arthritis of hands, knees, hips and back and degeneration in back, have that blister lump on index finger that Dr.

Blister-looking bump on finger - Arthritis - MedHelp
My hands have been swollen and my fingers hurt pretty bad, especially both my index fingers at the first joint just past the nail, also on that joint is a blister ...

Arthritis of the fingers. Left, normal hand and finger. Right, arthritic hand and finger, with ankylosis, or “locking” of the joint by bone and scar tissue.

Ha Ha I know this is super old, but I have EXACTLY what you are describing going on - started 1 week ago. Secondly, I started adding a couple of drop of Oil of Oregano all around the joint before bandaging. I will follow the suggestion about the finger sleeve. I am a heavy drinker and am thinking the purines are causing gout. I did not take the anti-inflammatory medicine because it was getting better on it's own.

You sound like you have the same problem I have. Still tender and sore all day but swelling and pain subside. I've been reading some of the reaponses you have been giving. This last month has been the toughest because of increased swelling and pain in my non-dominant index finger. From what I understand about gout it, the big toe is the usual target but it can happen to any joint.

I think you need a lot of tests including the antibody. By using this Site you agree to the following. She even mentioned to put ice for the swollen to go down, nothing is working. I say that is just so I can see where they are :) 4:55 am, fell asleep earlier than usual. I might have this in light of years of autoimmune probs and I was directed to dermatology for ?biopsy, but the sore bumps on my fingers actually cleared up before the appointment date and happily have not returned. I think you should have your doctor take a look at it. I drank grapefruit juice with apple cider vinegar in it and took 3 capsules of turmeric. I'll wait few days and if it doesn't t see up I'll have to go to doctor to make sure it's not anything serious. Phlebotomy is still necessary to remove the excess iron that has already built up. I get an injection into the joint works really well.
